The three terminals in a relay are the normally open (NO), normally closed (NC), and common (COM) terminals. The NO terminal is open when the relay is not activated and closes when the relay is activated. The NC terminal is closed when the relay is not activated and opens when the relay is activated. The COM terminal is connected to one of the other two terminals depending on the relay’s activation status.
